About Our Founder

Athena S. Fristoe, APR, president and founder of The Watermark Group Ltd., has provided strategic leadership on several key industry programs, including:

  media relations strategies for Universal Electronics Inc., the world's largest supplier of wireless-remote technology, for Ford Motor Co.'s automotive services support team, and for powersports electronics manufacturer MH Instruments
  marketing public relations management of Fortune 500 company Edison International’s electric vehicle program in Los Angeles, incorporating a corporate identity program and market segmentation
  nonprofit Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas in San Francisco, for whom she developed a strategic plan that included a corporate identity element
  American Gas Association (A.G.A.) in Washington, D.C., where she directed the trade group’s natural gas vehicle marketing (NGV) program and spearheaded the domestic NGV industry’s first unified strategic plan

A long-time writer and editor, Athena's work includes interactive script development for Discovery Channel's Emmy Award-winning series, When Dinosaurs Roamed America. She has served as editor or editor-in-chief of several trade publications, including A.G.A. Monthly, Natural Gas Vehicle, EVolution and Current. She also has considerable experience in events management, including numerous trade show and other press events.

Athena is an accredited member (APR) of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and a member of PRSA's Independent Practitioners Group. She completed her undergraduate work at The American University in Washington, D.C., and University of La Verne in California, graduating summa cum laude and majoring in business administration with an emphasis on marketing. She also completed a one-year executive management program through Pepperdine University.
